I was sitting on a rock at the beach, 10 steps away from a coronary
Completely overweight. Very unfit. My heart felt like it was literally trying to jump out of my chest.
Worst of all, I had only walked a couple of hundred steps from the car.
I was only 48 years old, and I had two young kids.
As I sat on that rock, 3 words changed my life.
I honestly don’t know where those words came from, but they have been an absolute gift to me.
The words were simple: “Fittest at Fifty.”
And they were given to me as a question: “What if you could be the fittest, strongest, and fastest you’ve ever been in your life at 50? What if that was still possible?”
And so I began a journey with those 3-words as both a goal and a mantra.
I developed other 3-word goals for the areas of my life also. Like being a “Fully Alive Dad”
These 3-word goals were so easy to remember, and they were simple to share with friends too.
Two years later, when I hit 50, I was, in fact, the fittest, strongest, and fastest I had ever been in my life.
This system of setting goals worked.
